What is PTSD?
PTSD, which stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, is a mental health condition that can develop in individuals who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event. The traumatic event can be a life-threatening situation, severe trauma, or any event that poses a serious threat to one’s personal safety. Examples of traumatic events that can lead to PTSD include military combat, natural disasters, physical or sexual assault, serious accidents, or the sudden death of a loved one.

Sketches
According to my research, I have summarized several causes of PTSD in children and visualized them through the use of abstract forms and shapes. Afterward, I designed a series of interactive toys, each featuring an egg-shaped “package” with a child inside. The egg shape symbolizes a new life that is pure and complete. However, people will find an injured child with a deformed body inside. I intend to present this contrast between the exterior appearance and the inner reality of these children. Moreover, children who have experienced PTSD often look like everyone else most of the time.
3D Modeling
I used Cinema 4D to create my design. A silver metal texture is applied to the body part of the toy because this material is hard and irreversible, symbolizing the irreversible nature of the injuries suffered by children with PTSD. These children carry memories of their traumatic experiences, and these injuries will always exist alongside those memories. They have transformed the injuries they endured into armor on their bodies, making themselves stronger to protect themselves.
A world for children who have PTSD is built in Cinema 4D. The silver metallic texture and the virtual black background blend together to create a sense of the future.
